# Bathroom Renovation Cost Calculator and Estimator

This is the text version of https://www.supertrades.com.au/calculators/bathroom-renovation-cost-calculator.

This bathroom renovation cost calculator is also a bathroom renovation estimator. Enter the length and width, or the floor area in square metres, then choose the shower, vanity, toilet, bath, wall tiling and whether any fittings move. The price adds removal, screed, wall sheeting, waterproofing, adhesive, grout, tiles, tapware, the screen, a fan and lights, plumbing, electrical, painting and a contractor margin. Every line includes GST. A published budget or cosmetic refresh is $8,000 to $15,000. A mid-range full strip-out is $15,000 to $35,000. A luxury renovation is $35,000 to $57,000. The opening example, a 2.4 m by 2.5 m room with a separate shower, a single vanity, a toilet, half-height tiles and the fittings left in place, comes to $15,700 to $25,200 including GST. Both ends sit in the mid-range band. A small bathroom renovation cost follows a smaller floor area.

## Bathroom Renovation price breakdown

Component rates for a full renovation of an existing bathroom. Every calculator line includes GST. A price that is already GST inclusive is used as published. A trade price that is ex GST, or that does not say, has 10% added. A contractor margin of 15% to 25% is added once to the ex-GST trade and supply subtotal, and that margin is then shown including GST. Dollar amounts in this table are the published figures, rounded to the nearest dollar.

## What affects Bathroom Renovation cost

- **Room size and tiling:** Floor area changes removal, screed, waterproofing and tiling. Wall tiling changes the sheeting and the tile area. A skip bin, the electrical package and painting stay as job charges, so a larger room does not multiply those.
- **Fittings:** A shower, vanity, toilet or bath adds its supply and its plumbing connection. Leaving the fittings in place still includes disconnection and reconnection. Moving a fitting adds a relocation charge on top, once.
- **What a published guide is for:** The published bands are a cross-check, not a cap. In Melbourne a full renovation is often $21,000 to $45,000 on the city page. This calculator uses the same Australian rates in every city.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does a bathroom renovation cost?

A mid-range full renovation is often $15,000 to $35,000. A budget or cosmetic refresh is $8,000 to $15,000, and a luxury renovation is $35,000 to $57,000. The bathroom renovation estimator opens on a 2.4 m by 2.5 m example at $15,700 to $25,200 including GST. Both ends sit in the mid-range band. The screed and wall lining use per-square-metre rates, and higher whole-bathroom job bands from those guides are not added on top.

### What does the bathroom renovation cost calculator include?

Removal, a skip bin, floor screed, wall sheeting, waterproofing, adhesive and grout, tile supply with 10% waste, tile installation, silicone and trims, the fittings and tapware, a fan and lights, plumbing, electrical, painting and a contractor margin. Every line includes GST, and the breakdown adds up to the range. A contingency allowance sits outside that range and starts at 15%.

### Does a small bathroom renovation cost less?

A smaller floor area reduces removal, waterproofing and tiling. It does not remove the skip, the electrical package, painting, or the plumbing package. Enter the square metres, or a length and width, to see the difference.

### Why is the Melbourne figure different on the city page?

The city page for Melbourne says a full renovation is often $21,000 to $45,000. This calculator uses the same national component rates for every city. A suburb or postcode is recorded for the quote and does not change the estimate.
