What Affects Outdoor Blinds Cost?
- Number of blinds: Count each opening as one blind. The calculator goes from 1 to 6. The blinds line is that count times the square metres of each blind times the material rate.
- Size of each blind: The sizes are about 2 × 2.4 m (4.8 m²), about 3 × 2.4 m (7.2 m²), about 4 × 2.4 m (9.6 m²) and about 5 × 2.7 m (13.5 m²). The area is width times drop for each blind, not the patio floor. Small blinds cost more per square metre, and that spread is already inside the rate.
- Material: Clear PVC is $180 to $350 per square metre, supply and standard install. Mesh is $170 to $300 per square metre, supply and standard install. The system is track-guided, the Ziptrak style. Ziptrak is not a separate material in the calculator. Outdoor blinds generally sit at $150 to $400 per square metre, and a manual Ziptrak track is usually $200 to $400 per square metre. One installer publishes $230 to $305 per square metre including GST. Basic cafe blinds can be cheaper than the clear PVC band. Do not treat the whole band as GST-inclusive.
- Operation: Manual adds nothing. Motorised adds $300 to $600 per blind, and that line is left off a manual blind. Three motors are $900 to $1,800. The electrical connection may be extra. Installation-only prices of $150 to $300 per blind, or about $200 to $400 for a custom fit, apply when the blinds are already supplied. They are not added on top of these rates.
Outdoor Blinds Cost - Frequently Asked Questions
A manual blind is generally $150 to $400 per square metre, supply and standard install. Clear PVC is $180 to $350 per square metre and mesh is $170 to $300 per square metre. The opening example, three manual clear PVC blinds of 7.2 m² each, is $3,888 to $7,560. One manual mesh blind of 4.8 m² is $816 to $1,440.
Motorised outdoor blinds use the same material rate, then add $300 to $600 per blind. Six clear PVC blinds of 13.5 m² each, motorised, come to $16,380 to $31,950. That is the blinds line plus the motor line. A manual job has no motor line. The electrical connection may be extra.
A manual Ziptrak track-guided blind is usually $200 to $400 per square metre, supply and standard install. One installer publishes $230 to $305 per square metre including GST. In this calculator you choose clear PVC or mesh, not a separate Ziptrak option. Clear PVC is $180 to $350 per square metre and mesh is $170 to $300 per square metre. Confirm whether the quote includes GST.
Cafe blinds, bistro blinds, patio blinds, outdoor roller blinds and external blinds are priced from the same clear PVC or mesh rate when they are track-guided and supplied with a standard install. Basic cafe blinds can be cheaper. A folding-arm awning is a different product.
